Mangaluru: A 19-year-old student pursuing first-year clinical psychology at a private college in Mukka has accused senior students in the college of ragging him and later abusing and assaulting him. The student allegedly suffered bleeding in the left ear following the incident.
In his complaint to Surathkal police, the student said that on November 25, he had received a call from a senior student Sidais. Following the call, the complainant along with friends Prateek, Akash, Gulsar, and Hadi Bekkar, reached near Surathkal bridge, to a location, whcih was shared by the accused via WhatsApp to the complainant's mobile.
Upon reaching there, the complainant and friends, who went to a room on the first floor, where Sidais, Amal Krishna, and Sajid verbally abused them.
Sidais then closed the door and forced the complainant to sing and dance. When the complainant resisted, Sidais, Amal Krishna, and Sajid slapped the complainant amd ubsequently, Shibin, Azeem Shah, Adam, Fahad, Atul K, Dilip, and Abjal entered the room, threatening the complainant and friends with death if they reported the incident to the college authorities or the police.
The complainant and friends returned home, too frightened to speak of the incident.
On November 26, the complainant noticed bleeding from the left ear and received treatment at the college hospital. Later, he reported the incident to the college dean and the anti-ragging committee.
In response, the dean promised to conduct an inquiry, said the complainant. A case has been registered in this regard.
