The villagers staged a road block blaming the Police department for the death of a student from Bylakuppe in a road mishap, on Thursday.

14-year-old Nandeep of Haleyuru village, in the taluk, studying in 8th standard was killed on the spot when a KSRTC bus plying from Kushalnagar to Mysuru hit him.

Upset, villagers pelted stones on the bus and also blocked the road for a while placing the body on the road. The villagers claimed that such incidents were common, and alleged that the barricade placed on the spot had been removed by the traffic police.

They demanded construction of a road hump on the spot to prevent such accidents, and suitable compensation to the kin of the deceased.

Circle Inspector Prasannakumar tried to pacify the agitating crowd. He had to use mild caning when the situation went out of control, to clear the road. Bylakuppe police have registered a case.
