The seer was fasting from Saturday, following the denial of water to the mutt from Kannadihole--a stream flowing in the forest near Subrahmanya. The seer was also upset over a few allegations against the mutt and the controversies surrounding it.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Pejawar seer Vishwesha Tirtha, Suttur mutt seer, ministers and seers from Ashta Mutts of Udupi, had appealed to the fasting seer to withdraw his fast on Sunday.
