"I would like to stress here that this facility of subsidised loans will be available only to those farmers who make timely repayment", Chief Minister said in his 2010-11 budget presented to the state assembly.
He said a movement "jalasiri" will be started with an expenditure target of Rs 500 crore for building at least two lakh water-harvesting structures and a special award of Rs five lakh given to best grama panchayat in every taluks for performance in building water-harvesting structures.
Specail assistance will also be provided along with grants under employment guarantee scheme for building water harvesting structures in nala bunds, check dams in every village under every gram panchayat.
The government mulled over making sprinkler irrigation system compulsory with a view to protect ground water and economising the consumption of power, he said.
"Antaraganga micro-irrigation Corporation will be set up with an outlay of Rs 100 crore to provide assistance and technology to farmers", he said.
