Due to lack of doctors at Robertsonpet Government Maternity Hospital, no surgeries including caesarian was conducted.

The patients were sent to other hospitals in Kolar or Kuppam. This hospital is situated in the heart of the city. So, not only the patients from surrounding areas, but also from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh prefer coming here.

No control

But the administration in the hospital is not in proper control and treatment is not available at the right time, allege the patients.

Recently, a newborn was injured during a caesarian operation. There were two stitches on its forehead when it was brought out of operation theatre. Though some local leaders tried to protest, the doctors convinced them to take proper care henceforth and sent them back. But it was found later that no action was taken against the doctor responsible for injuring the newborn.

Medical store closed

On Sunday the medical shop of the hospital was not opened. Patients were seen buying medicine from the private medical shops.

There are two staff at the medical shop. One staffer travels from Bangalore. So, his duty time depends on railway timing. He is not found in the premises during holidays, says Nanda, a friend of a patient admitted here.

Patient woes

“My wife Padmapriya had delivered a child here on 15 of last month. She was discharged after three days. But she has not received the maternity kit nor incentives from the government.

Every time I come to hospital asking for the kit and incentive they send me back saying me to come after five days. The hospital staff were not ready to conduct delivery till we paid Rs 1,700,” alleged Shashikumar of Irudayapuram

He had come to hospital again but was disappointed as there was no staff.
