Suraj Educational Charitable Trust will organise 'Suraj Kalasiri - 2017,' a national-level art meet in its premises at Mudipu from December 21 to 23.
Kalasiri committee president Dr Manjunath S Revankar told reporters that veteran actress Jayanthi will be conferred the Suraj Kalasiri award on the occasion and well-known art critic A Ishwaraiah will preside over the programme.
Stating that hundreds of artistes would take part in the three-day event, he said that besides Jayanthi, 12 persons, who have excelled in various fields, will be conferred the Suraj service award. They include P Jayaram Bhat (banking), A J Shetty (education), Jayaram Banana (entrepreneur), M N Rajendra Kumar (co-operative), Dr Bhimeshwar Joshi (religious), Dr M Shantharam Shetty (medical), Saara Aboobakker (literature), Gurukiran (art), U K Kumarnath (journalism), Supreetha Poojary (sports), Violet Vas (agriculture) and Muralidhar Vittal (differently abled).
Publicity Committee head Mamatha Gatti was present during the press meet.
