Survey on ragi growers in taluk

At a taluk-level meeting of officials here on Friday, MLA Amaresh directed the officers to expedite the data collection process as it would help in issuing compensation to the affected farmers.

Following incessant rainfall, ragi crop has been destroyed in as many as 121 hectares in the taluk.

The farmers must be encouraged to grow other plants, he said and directed the Horticulture officials to provide sandalwood, jatropha and other revenue-generating plants to farmers. He was of the opinion that the main road in the town need to be asphalted. He reviewed work of Excise, Police and Sericulture Departments.

Tahsildar P Jayamadhav, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Venkata Reddy, Assistant Agricultural Director Chandrashekhar and others were present.
