Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ruled out housing any government office permanently in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha given its poor design.

In a reply to Patil G T (Cong) in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, who wanted to know the steps taken to make maximum use of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS), the chief minister said, “The Soudha is not properly planned. The legislature wing would require the entire building when the legislature session is on.

The legislature wing would make a government office vacate in case it is located. The rooms are too small. Only meetings could be held during the off-legislature season. It is not practical to make optimum use of the Soudha except for holding sessions and meetings.”

When BJP leader Jagadish Shettar suggested that the government build an annexure to house government offices so that the SVS could be used better, Siddaramaiah pointed out that Rs 450 crore had already been spent on the building.
