NCP General Secretary Anitha Machaiah has urged the district administration to take necessary precautionary measures to prevent spreading of H1N1 influenza since a large number of tourists are expected to visit Kodagu during weekends.

“The district administration should not neglect the disease that has sent tentacles across the country,” she said addressing media persons here on Friday.

“As on now, Kodagu is free of swine flu. The situation should be maintained. Steps should be taken to see that the flu does not enter the district,” she pressed.

“Since the district is being depicted as a rich district, the government is not serious about the problems of the district. Though the coffee growers and farmers are experiencing a lot of problems, no elected representative is trying to bring the issue to the notice of the Central government,” she regretted.
