The furry, longlegged arachnid, an Indian tarantula apparently belonging to the sub-family thrigmopoeinae, is large, with the dark-blue carapace being about 35 mm long and the legs on an average about 60 mm, covered with brownish hairs with yellow bands.
Raghavendra carefully trapped the spider and took it to the Savanadurga forest, where he left it in the wild. A wildlife enthusiast, Raghavendra is known to collect snakes, spiders and scorpions and let them in the forest.
