A ‘Karsamadhana Scheme’ would be launched by the Commercial Taxes department to provide relief to taxpayers who have not been able to pay their taxes till now due to various reasons such as loss in business or because of disputes in tax assessment pending before the courts. Under this scheme, relief in respect of interest will be given to those who pay the principal tax amount prior to June 30 2010, he said.

Other measures include: Minimum turnover for compulsory registration under VAT system to be increased to Rs five lakh from Rs two lakh and the turnover limit for compulsory audit of books of accounts of the assessees proposed to be increased to Rs 60 lakh.
