He has become a living legend. Such was his passion for teaching that he sold his wife’s gold jewellery to pay salary of teachers in his school.

Work after retirement

His enthusiasm went beyond teaching curriculum in school to community services, wherever he worked. He continues to work even after his retirement.
Here are some of the incidents that are still recounted among his fans and students to illustrate their teacher’s interest, involvement and commitment to education.

When he was headmaster of Harati school in the taluk, he taught farmers scientific method of cultivation and carried out several programmes to create awareness among farmers in the surrounding villages.

Garden in school

While working at a school in Somayajalahalli, Srinivaspur taluk he encouraged students to develop a garden on 20 acres which now sustains the school financially.
When he was transferred to Arikunte in the same taluk he carried with him the legacy and cultivated teak, silver oak and other trees which are valued lakhs of rupees today.

Excellence

Another of his achievements was to turn the Bhairaveshwara Vidyaniketan, a private school in its initial years of establishment to an instituton of excellence.
It was here that Srirama Reddy, working as secretary of the institution, paid his colleagues’ salary by selling his wife’s jewellery.

The school in the village today has even expensive language club.

He teaches children even to prepare various artefacts using waste materials. The school boasts of the biggest open theatre in the taluk, thanks to visionary zeal of Srirama Reddy Mestru.
