The deceased have been identified as Muniraju (15), a tenth standard student and Ravi (35), a teacher at Timmarayaswamy High School in Anekal taluk of Bangalore Rural district.
Fifty students from the school were on tour and they had stopped at Hebbale to take bath in the river. When Muniraju drowned, the teacher, Ravi, rushed to his rescue, but did not surface from the water.
The bodies were not traced till Monday evening. The villagers said that the river in this stretch is 30 feet deep and they have asked the authorities to put up a signboard cautioning the visitors.
