Teachers deprived of hike have exhorted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to extend the benefits enjoyed by assistant teachers and headmasters at high schools to teachers and others in equivalent posts.

A delegation of teachers belonging to different associations, who called on the chief minister in Bengaluru recently, urged the him to issue an order granting additional hike in salary on the lines of teachers and headmasters of government and aided high schools who have been already reaping the benefit.

While there is no clarity in the order with regard to other cadres like physical education teacher grade-1 and grade-2, music teacher, vocational teacher, drawing teacher and others in equivalent posts.

The same delegation also met the AICC leader Digvijay Singh, who is in charge of Karnataka. Following the appeal made by teachers, Singh directed Siddaramaiah to respond to their demands. Legal advisor to chief minister Brijesh Kalappa and Congress leader K K Manjunath had jointly led the delegation.

The delegation included Shadakshari and Mahesh from Chikkamagaluru, Rangappa, Jayanna Gowda and Maheshwarappa from Shivamogga, Arif from Bhadravathi, besides other teachers from Hassan, Haveri, Bengaluru and other districts.
