Demanding the fulfilment of various demands, teachers under the aegis of Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association took out a protest march in Madikeri on Saturday.

The protest march was held from Gandhi Maidan to district complex.

Addressing the rally, Association president H S Chethan said that normally teachers transfer takes place in March or February. Unfortunately, for the last three years in the name of election model code of conduct and other reasons, the transfer was postponed, thus inconveniencing those teachers who wanted to have a transfer.

He said the transfer process should be initiated in the month of June.

He said the promotion of graduate teachers has been suspended for the last two years. The loopholes in the new pension schemes should be set right.

If the demands are not met, all the schools will be shut in the last week of February and teachers will take out Vidhana Soudha Chalo march, he warned.

Association honorary president S A Yogesh said, "The promotion should be provided based on service seniority."
