The Higher Education department is introducing tele-education facility for students preparing for Common Entrance Test (CET) for undergraduate professional courses.
The facility will first be launched in Kalaburagi, Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande told the Council on Tuesday. Mahantesh Kavatagimath drew the government’s attention to the lack of tuition facilities for CET students from rural areas. Deshpande said the Cabinet had recently cleared the proposal for tele-education.
The government was in talks with Doordarshan for the purpose. “We have identified Kalaburagi as the first district to receive tele-education lectures, as it is one of the most backward districts,” he said.
Deshpande said that the department was embarking upon the Edusat project with direct relay of lectures to students in 330 degree colleges. He said that the department would explore options on training PU college teachers in coaching the students for CET.
On the revision in the pay for teachers in aided colleges, Deshpande said that the primary reason for pay cuts was that there was no money in the State coffers.
