Temple in Kolar looted

The miscreants barged into the Sapalamma Devi temple, breaking open the lock and decamped with gold and silver ornaments which were on the idol of Goddess Sapalamma Devi.

Besides, they had broke open the ‘hundi’, (in which devotees put offerings), and stole Rs 4,000 cash. The incident came to light when the temple staff came to clean the premises in the wee hours of Tuesday.

They immediately alerted City Municipality member Muraligowda who was in charge of the temple administration. The police, along with forensic experts and dog squad, rushed to the spot. Muraligowda has registered a case at the City police station. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sangappa Chalawadi and City Police station (crime branch) Sub-Inspector Nagaraj visited the temple.
