A group of 11 women had moved to court in the past seeking permission to offer Friday prayers at the mosque. As the court had given them the permission, this group of women have been appearing at the mosque for their Friday prayers. When the women turned up for prayer on Friday, a group of miscreants objected, thereby creating chaos for sometime. However, the incident was settled after police arrived at the spot.

Islamic Trust, which runs the mosque, meanwhile clarifying the same in a press release stated that there is no separate space or provision for the ladies to offer prayers. As per the Shariat, it is not mandatory for women to offer Juma congregational prayer in the mosque. However, in the said mosque, there is absolute lack of space and the male devotees are forced to offer prayer outside the mosque premises. In such a situation, when the incident happened, the women were not stopped from offering prayers but the women had created pandemonium by turning up for prayer along with some hooligans, at the crowded mosque, the release added.
