Theft at Irani student's house

The incident has occurred at the residence of Akbar Jabbari, an Iranian, at third stage in Vijayanagar.

He has enrolled for Ph D at the University of Mysore.

According to police, Akbar Jabbari along with his family members had been outside for shopping between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm.  They returned home, only to find the door ajar.

Panicked the couple went inside only to find a suitcase in the almirah opened. The said amount was missing from the suitcase. Thieves have made away with a wall clock and two to three bulbs too.

Vijayanagar police have registered a case and are investigating.

14 held for gambling

Jayalakshmipuram police arrested 14 persons on charges of street gambling here on Sunday.

They were involved in the card game at the open field near Manasagangothri when a police team led by Inspector Arun Nagegowda swooped on them. A total of Rs 14, 510 stake amount was seized from them.

All the accused belong to Vinayaka Nagar in Paduvarahalli.
