The district stands 15th place in maintaining cleanliness and solid waste management in the country.
When asked about cleaning the dirty drains in the city without safety gloves, gum boots or mask, a pourakarmika said they have been doing these works for the last so many years to keep the city clean.
The CMC authorities or the district administration have never bothered to distribute the safety kits for these men who do such works without having an idea of ill-effects on their health.
