Threat of landslide at Ottinene

The threat of landslide on Byndoor-Shiroor Road on national highway continued on Monday with water from hillock along with mud flowing on to the road.

With the muddy water flowing on the road, vehicle users faced inconvenicne. Machines are being used to check the intensity of the flow of water. The movement of vehicles on Monday was stopped for sometime when landslip occured in the afternoon.

MLA’s direction
MLA Gopal Poojary has directed deputy commissioner and other officials to take safety measures at Ottinene while carrying out the road work. Additional police should be deployed at the spot to control the traffic, he added.
DC Priyanka Mary Francis and assistant commissioner Shilpa Nag visited the spot on Monday afternoon.

‘Contractor responsible’
Speaking to media persons, the DC said the contractor is responsible for the landslip.

Already, a case has been registered against the firm and it has been directed to ensure that the incident does not recur. The officials have been directed to repair the alternative roads of Dombe and Maddodi, she said.
