The deceased have been identified as Srikumar (11), Srilakshmi (9), driver Ram Pandurang (40), residents of Sangli in Maharashtra, while the injured have been identified as Aravind, Mahantesh, Sujita, Sugendra, Ummi, Reena and Nandini. All the injured have been admitted at RNS Hospital at Murdeshwar, while Nisha who is grievously injured has been admitted at Manipal hospital.
Accident occurred when the car carrying 11 members of a family was hit by a private bus, which was carrying students of a junior college in Nelamangala. The members in the car were returning to Sangli in Maharashtra after touring Kerala. Whereas, the students who were on a study tour were heading towards Kollur after visiting Murdeshwar. The car was mangled, while the front portion of the bus was damaged in the accident and one of the students has sustained minor injuries. A case has been registered in Murdeshwar police station.
