A tigress, supposed to be pregnant, was found dead near Annur Hosahalli under Sollepura social forests in the taluk on Sunday. The corpse of a cow has also been found near the spot.
The tigress is said to be a five years old. A special team from Project Tiger is camping near the spot where the tigress was found dead.
Metikuppe range forest officer Poovaiah, social forestry RFOs Mohan Kumar and Madhusudan and Forest department personnel visited the spot. The officers said the autopsy would be performed on Monday.
