The forest department has decided to erect fences made out of train tracks at a cost of Rs three crore to control elephant menace in Titimati forest range, MLA K G Bopaiah said.

Paying a visit to Titimati forest tribal hamlet on Thursday, he said that a high level meeting has been convened in this regard and the officials have been directed to initiate the work.

Farmers in Titimati had staged a protest against the forest department two weeks ago and the MLA had assured the farmers that the government would do its best to safeguard farmers’ produce from wild elephants.
