The Bangalore Climate Change Initiative-Karnataka (BCCI-K) has said US President Donald Trump’s criticism of India was unacceptable .

In a note, Prof B K Chandrashekar, president, BCCI-K, said India played a pro-active role in building a consensus for the agreement in the interests of global sustainability.

“The government announced that India will cut its emissions intensity by 33-35% of 2005 levels by 2030, in addition to increasing its forest cover by five million hectares by 2030. The US has pledged to cut its emissions by 26-28% which is less than India’s. Prime Minister Modi himself committed that by 2030, at least 40% of the country’s electricity would be from non-fossil sources,” he said.
