This is how he justified his challenge in Bangalore, soon after he arrived from his six-day rejuvenation therapy at Kottakkal in Kerala.
“They were constantly and repeatedly trying to make it a truth by telling a thousand lies (Savira sullu heli satya). So I thought it best to take it before God,” Yeddyurappa told reporters.
Yeddyurappa said he believed in God and also law. “I am sure that people who have reposed faith in me understand... No wrong message will be sent by my move. It’s not unconstitutional,” he said.
The chief minister said he would reach Dharmasthala on June 26, a day before the showdown. “Whatever else I have to say, I will say before the Almighty,” he said.
Yeddyurappa reiterated that the BJP would pay for his signed advertisement carried by newspapers on Saturday.
The showdown at the revered temple town was precipitated by Kumaraswamy’s charge that the chief minister had approached him through an intermediary offering the JD(S) leader financial inducements in return for his silence on the alleged scams involving him.
