Eight wild elephants and two calves attacked two men riding on a bike, near Basaveshwara Temple in Mavinakatte in Doddakodli village on Sunday. Both men were declared out of danger.

The herd confronted Satish and Devaraj from Doddakodli village, who were on their way to agricultural work on Sunday morning. The elephants pushed the bike with their trunk, which resulted in the bike along with riders, falling into a trench. The bike was damaged and the rider Satish and pillion rider Devaraj suffered injuries.

Staff from the Forest Department visited the spot. RFO Kotresh said the elephant herd was sighted around Basaveshwara Temple. An operation will be launched to drive them back to the forest, he added.
