Two members of a family were killed and two others suffered injuries in a collision between two cars at Kaudicharu on Mani-Mysuru road on Sunday.
According to police, the deceased Sooryanarayana (64) and Gopinath (45) were residents of Uttarahalli in Bengaluru.
The injured, Karthik and Vittal, have been shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. They were travelling to Puttur to take part in a cremation of one Venkatramana Rao in Bannur when the accident occurred.
The driver lost control over the car in which they were travelling and hit another car coming from the opposite direction as the soil was wet and slippery following rain. The locals alleged that though the work on Mani-Mysuru road is complete, the work on drains is pending.
Owing to lack of storm water drains, the rainwater flows on the road and as a result, soil gets accumulated on the road causing inconvenience to the drivers, they charged.
