Two farmers committed suicide in the State on Saturday. Ishwarappa Basavaneppa Revannavar (60) of Murukumbi village in Saundatti taluk of Belagavi district ended his life by consuming poison. He had got two borewells drilled, of which, one failed. With deficit monsoon and crop failure he was  fearing that he could not repay the loans he had availed.  Revannavar was admitted at the District Hospital for treatment, where he died.

Revannavar had availed around Rs 6 lakh loans from various sources, the family members said.

Mahalingappa (43), a debt-stressed farmer from Lakmagondanahalli in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on his farm.    The victim is survived by wife and a son. MLA K Shadakshari, Tahsildar Manjunath, Chikkanayakanahalli MLA Sureshbabu and Raitha Sngha leaders visited the house of the deceased farmer. Kibbanahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death.
