Rain continued to cause havoc in the State on Monday.

A 25-year-old man was killed when lightning struck him at Perla in Ujire village of Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district.

The deceased is Surendra, who was standing near his house with four of his friends when the incident occurred. His friends have suffered injuries and are recuperating in hospital.

Heavy rain lashed Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru district. The coffee growers were all smiles as rains are essential during the season for the flowering of the coffee plants. All drains in the town overflowed with rainwater. A few farmers had kept black pepper for drying and it got drenched in the rain.

Muttappa Hanumappa Kevadi, a 55-year-old farmer, was struck dead by lightning at his farm at Yadwad village in Gokak taluk of Belagavi district. Rains have also been reported in parts of Gokak taluk, Bailhongal and Savadatti in the district.
