Two labourers died when soil caved in from a hillock at a construction site, at Nellikatte in Puttur on Tuesday.
According to Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Ravikanthe Gowda, the deceased are Padmanabha (35) of Jalligudde in Mangaluru and Shivanna alias Shivu (40) of Kushtagi in Koppala.
The injured Mahanthesh and Yashvanth from Kushtagi in Koppala are recuperating in the hospital.
The SP said that construction site had no safety measures and the building was being constructed in a negligent manner. Legal action would be initiated against the guilty he added.
