The Second Additional District and Sessions Court has granted conditional bail to Panduranga Sathish, 46, in the case.

Sathish had allegedly shared a post on the social media. Following this, the police station was attacked by a mob, demanding the police to hand over the accused to them so that they can teach him a ‘lesson’, on February 10. The post is alleged to have hurt the sentiments of Muslims.

When the appeal for a bail came up for hearing on February 15, the Public Prosecutor, Savitha, had objected. Thus the hearing had been adjourned till February 17. Defence lawyer An Ma Bhaskar pleaded for a bail, before the judge.

Meanwhile the police have filed an FIR, regarding the attack on the police station against 1,000 persons for rioting and stone-pelting. Sixteen persons have been arrested so far.
