Bengaluru: Urban Development Minister B S Suresha (Byrathy) on Wednesday directed officials to prepare a detailed project report to develop an integrated township at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Kolar district.
According to a statement released by the minister’s office here, the Kolar district administration has already earmarked 294 acres in KGF for the purpose of establishing the township there.
“The state government is in control of 960 acres of Bharat Gold Mines Limited (BGML) in KGF. A couple of acres have been handed over to the government already. The proposed township is just 2.5 km away from the Bengaluru-Chennai express highway,” the minister noted.
He directed the officials concerned to evaluate the possibility of developing connectivity to this expressway in the DPR.
“Apart from housing, the township project will have industries, banks, hospitals, educational institutions, parks and entertainment facilities,” the statement read.
