Interacting with party workers, he said the US was pressurising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is presently touring America, to allow it to enter these sectors. Whether the US will succeeds in its attempt or not depends on the Prime Minister’s decision, he added. The US could not succeed in this regard all these years as the left parties being part of the previous UPA Government at the centre, opposed it tooth and nail.
So is the reason the ghost of economic downturn did not affect India much, he pointed out.
The left parties will continue mounting pressure on the Centre to keep a check on communal forces and pursue the right economic path for building a self-sufficient nation, he added.
