Unclean earth, which may be land, water or air, is always curse for the medical profession. However, keeping the earth clean without healthy mind will not serve the purpose, said Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde.

Speaking after inaugurating fourth day event organised under the theme Swasth Manas- Swasth Bharath for paramedical students as a part of Jagruth Bharath- Awakened India programme at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of Ramakrishna Mutt here on Monday, he said that everyone may not be able to achieve the excellence of Swami Vivekananda, but anyone can follow certain qualities of his life.

“We respect earth as mother earth, so it is our duty to keep our surroundings clean. Swasth Manas or clean mind means there should not be place for hatredness, it should be clear and obligation is to treat the suffering. In the process you may have to sacrifice your personal life. Unless you use the knowledge you get from education to serve society, it would be a waste. Getting a job is not a big thing, but reaching the highest degree of fulfilment is necessary,” Hegde added.

Ramakrishna Math Adhyaksha Swami Jitakamanandaji said that body and mind have very good co-ordination.

For the overall development of the personality, along with the physical health, one should have healthy mind.

Good attitude always keeps mind stressless and healthy. Such people enjoy the life and they can contribute more to others, he said. Dr M V Shetty Group of institutions Chairman Dr M Ramagopal Shetty also spoke.
