Protesters said that though they had staged a protest on the day of Gokulashtami and submitted memoranda to the Deputy Commissioners across the state, Government failed to take any action in this regard, due to which they had to take up second phase of protest on Wednesday.

“BJP, which portrays itself to be a pro-Hindu party and which calls itself to be different from others must become pro-active and take steps in this direction. The government must make laws to  prohibit cattle slaughter without further delay,” they said and added that it is due to cattle slaughter that communal unrest has been erupting in various places in the state.

Considering this fact, Government should prohibit cattle slaughter and restore peace in the state.

They said that there is a need to bring in laws against conversion too as off late there have seen several instances of unrest due to forced conversion.

Protesters warned the government of intensifying protests in case it fails to respond to the demands kept forth by the Vedike at the earliest.

Plans

Vedike plans to take up signature campaign and observe one day of hunger strike at all taluk centres as a part of its third phase of protest.

If Government fails to respond to the same then Vedike members will stage ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ on December 21.

Hindu Jagaran Vedike District Convener Roy Thammaiah, BJP leaders M P Sunil Subramani and others were present.
