The protesters damaged glasspanes of a few shops and observed strike in the Municipal limits, obstructing vehicular traffic, they said, adding normal life was hit.
Shops and business establishments downed shutters while public transport kept off the roads putting the public to hardship.
Unidentified persons "spoiled" boundary walls of three nearby temples with green paint, triggering the protest, police said.
Police is keeping tight vigil in the town where the situation was reported to be normal, police added.
