VTU convocation on Friday

The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is organising the 15th annual convocation at 11 am on May 27 (Friday) at its headquarters at Jnana Sangama here.

A S Kiran Kumar, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, will be the chief guest and will deliver the convocation address. Governor and VTU chancellor Vajubhai Vala will preside. Minister for Higher Education T B Jayachandra will grace the occasion.

Acting vice-chancellor V Sridhar told reporters on Monday that during the convocation, VTU will confer BE degree to 53,972 students, BArch degree to 176 students, MBA degree to 4,258 students, MCA degree to 2,730 students, MTech degree to 7,669 students and MArch degree to 23 students.

This year, the university is awarding PhD degrees to 112 students and MSc (engineering) degrees to 20 students.
