The Karnataka Muslim Sangharsha Samiti will challenge the decision of the State Cabinet rejecting sanction for prosecution of former members and officials of the Karnataka Board of Wakfs allegedly involved in Wakf land scam.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, M J Ali, the president of the Samiti, has said that the CID, after completion of its investigation, had sought permission to proceed against persons involved in the scam.

Since several top leaders of the Congress are involved in the irregularities, the matter was referred to Cabinet, which refused sanction.

The Congress has been protecting the interest of corrupt politicians, Ali has said.
The Samiti also charged the co-operation minister with acting in a similar fashion in the Amanath Co-operative Bank fiasco.
