A couple, who entered wedlock in the City on Monday, presented money collected as gifts for them to the army welfare fund.

At the wedding of Giridhar and Amrutha, at Divategalli, 'Ayer' collected from relatives and friends was put in a box meant to be presented to the army welfare fund for battle casualties. A poster giving this information was also displayed at the wedding hall.

"My father wanted to help the poor, during my wedding. When I proposed the idea to present the 'Ayer' collected to the army welfare fund, he agreed happily. Bride's family members, friends and relatives have also lauded this initiative. The amount collected would be deposited with the army welfare fund's bank account," Mr Giridhar said.
