Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday questioned his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for questioning eating habits, while clarifying that he did not consume beef.

"Who is he to question our eating habits? Many Hindus consume beef. If I want to eat beef, who is he to object? I don't like beef so I don't eat it," Siddaramaiah tweeted. He was responding to Adityanath's attack, questioning Siddaramaiah's credentials as a Hindu for promoting beef-eating.

Adityanath had criticised Siddaramaiah for failing to curb the slaughter of cows.

"I have grazed and fed cattle. I have cleared cow dung. Has Yogi Adityanath, who talks of cow protection and care, grazed cattle? What moral right does he have to talk of cow protection?" Siddaramaiah asked in another tweet.
