Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy who recently won the bypolls from Ramanagara took oath as an MLA on Thursday. Legislative Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar administered the oath to Anitha at Vidhana Soudha.

Thanking the people of Ramanagara for electing her, Anitha clarified that she was not a ministerial aspirant. She however claimed that she would do a “good job”, if she was entrusted with such a responsibility.

“I am not aspiring for a ministerial berth. If made a minister, I will do a good job. I am Ramanagara’s first woman legislator,” she said, when asked if the JD(S) would make her a minister. The JD(S) has two vacancies in the Cabinet. While one berth has been kept vacant ever since the government was formed, the second was vacated after former Primary and Secondary Education Minister N Mahesh tendered his resignation on October 11.
