A woman burnt her 12-day-old daughter to death at Venkatapura near here, upset that her husband and mother did not come to see her baby.
The suspect is Yashoda Gopal Moger, who set her infant on fire on March 9. The woman's brother had admitted the baby to the Manipal Hospital, but she died on March 10.
The Rural police registered a case and arrested the woman. She was produced before the judge, who remanded her in judicial custody.
The woman was married to Gopal Moger of Belni village in the taluk. He has been missing for the past three months.
