A woman drowned her four daughters in a well and committed suicide by jumping into it at Rasinga village in Hukkeri taluk in the district. The incident, which occurred late on Wednesday night, came to light on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as: Sunita Eknath Agam (32), her daughters Arati (10), Sanjana (7), Amruta (4) and Nishigandha (six months).
The reason for the extreme step is not known. Sunita’s parents do not have any complaints. Depression may be the reason behind the incident, police said.
Sankeshwar police have registered a case.
