Woman killed in tiger attack, 2nd death in 9 daysPuttamma (32), of Deshipura colony, is the deceased. It is said that the tiger attacked her when she was herding the cattle on Thursday. It had also dragged the woman for 100 metres from the spot.

Gundlupet: A woman was killed in a tiger  attack near Omkar range, under Bandipur Tiger Reserve, in Gundlupet taluk, Chamarajanagar district, on Thursday afternoon. This is second such death in the past nine days.

Puttamma (32), of Deshipura colony, is the deceased. It is said that the tiger attacked her when she was herding the cattle on Thursday. It had also dragged the woman for 100 metres from the spot. Learning about the incident, the villagers alerted the Forest department and searched for Puttamma. They found her body at a distance.

Bandipur Conservator of Forest Prabhakaran said, “It is confirmed that the woman had died of tiger attack. The body would be handed over after the post mortem. An operation would be launched to capture the tiger”. 

It may be mentioned that Rangamma of Bedaguli village, (BRT) range was killed in a tiger attack on June 10. However, the tiger was captured by the Forest department within hours. Now, another tiger attack within 10 days has created panic among the  villagers.
