Originally from Mangalore, Srilatha had revealed her tragic story before the media men on Tuesday and had given an account of how her husband Bharath, who is a driver in KSRTC, had deceived her.

Earlier, in-charge DC Prasanna Kumar assured to solve the problem within five days, and the offer was rejected by Srilatha stating that she is fed up of all the assurances. The earlier attempts requesting SP and Home Minister proved to be futile and she was stubborn with her demand of continuing the strike unto death.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya rushed to the spot on Friday afternoon and held talks with in-charge DC and SP. He assured that Bharath will be produced before Srilatha within 48 hours and asked her to withdraw her indefinite hunger strike.

Srilatha has threatened to take up the hunger strike from Tuesday, in case the Home Minister fails to fulfil his pledge.

Hemmadi Manasa Yuvathi Mandala member Savithri Balegarthi, advisor Annapurna and activists of Udupi district Jaya Karnataka accompanied Srilatha in her strike.
