Addressing press persons, he said that between the year 2008 and 2010, 61 dowry cases, 4 sexual harassment cases, 20 domestic violence cases, 7 polygamy cases, 3 rape cases, 1 absconding case and 69 physical and mental torture cases have been registered in the helpline centre out of which 99 cases have been solved through proper communication while the other cases are pending in the court.
The Janachinthana Association that functions under the Women and Child Welfare Department, Tarikere, has made all arrangements to empower those women who were caught up in all the above mentioned cases.
The women are prepared to be independent as they are offered various courses and workshops, he said.
