The protesters said drainage has seeped into the pipes supplying drinking water to their houses and the water they are provided therefore has a stench.

The drinking water pipes in the Ward pass through the mutton market in the area and are in bad condition. The drainage collecting in the mutton market reaches the houses through the drinking water pipes.

Despite several requests to the TMC that they get water that is not worth consumption, the administration has not taken any action, complained the protesters. Council vice-president A Rajappa said that the drinking water pipes would be repaired immediately and pacified the women. Residents of the Ward Noorjahan, Tabassum, Anisa Begum and Farzan led the protest.
