“The ECI has sought his (Chief Minister) reply to the statement, as it amounts to violation of model code of conduct. The ECI has given him time till September 11 to file his reply,” Chief Electoral Officer C S Suranjana said.

Yeddyurappa while campaigning for his party’s candidate in Kadur, reportedly said his Government will make Kadur a model constituency by adopting it if the BJP candidate emerges victorious.

It is the second notice Yeddyurappa has received from the ECI. The first notice was slapped a few days ago for his reported statement to give reservation benefits to Adi Banijiga community, one of the dominant communities in Gulbarga Dakshin Constituency.
