ABVP has been exerting pressure on the state government to not increase the fee from Rs 30,000 set last year.

According to sources, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was unable to convince ABVP leaders to budge from their stand, and therefore the state government will stick with the
demand for fee at existing levels.

However, private colleges have demanded that fee should be fixed at Rs 50,000 owing to the implementation of the sixth pay commission.

The colleges have also threatened to approach Supreme Court for the implementation of the Fee Regulatory Committee’s report.
